City Palace was the residence of the erstwhile royal family of Rajput Empire but was later converted into a royal museum. A part of this building still serves as the residence of the royal family. The museum contains many belongings of the royal family. There are many beautiful halls in the museum such as Diwan-i-Aam, Diwan-i-Khas and Sheesh Mahal. The interiors and decorations of the palace gives you a glimpse of the luxurious lifestyle of the ancient empire.
Jantar Mantar is a solar observatory containing many instruments to calculate the movements of planets and make astronomical calculations. It contains Sun Dial, the largest solar instrument in the world. It was built by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh II, who himself was a great astronomer. He built 5 such solar observatories in India and the one located in Jaipur is the largest among the all.
The next big attraction in Hawa Mahal, a crown-shaped 5-story building. The monument was originally built to allow the royal women to watch the proceedings in the city without getting seen by the common men. More than 950 windows allow fresh air to reach the building and keep it cool during hot summers of Rajasthan.
After visiting these places, you may return to your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
NOTE: Chokhi Dhani (Optional):
You may also choose to visit Chokhi Dhani for your dinner. Chokhi Dhani is a village resort located on the outskirts of Jaipur. The ethnic resort is known for delicious Rajasthani cuisines with regional dance performance. We shall reach the resort to enjoy our dinner as well as the cultural performances.
On the second day, visit Amber Fort, located 11km from Jaipur on Delhi-Jaipur road.
Amber Fort is one of the strongest forts in India and one of very few forts that was never won in spite of many attacks. Located on the top of the Aravali Hills, this fort represents the power and strength of the erstwhile Rajput Kingdom. You may choose to ride an elephant to reach the fort.
The fort consists of many halls, temples, museum and many rooms. The decoration and carvings inside the fort depict a blend of Rajput and Persian architecture. The gardens surrounding the fort make it a great picnic spot, and the breath-taking view of the city beneath leaves you astonished.
One more hilltop fort in Jaipur is called Nahargarh Fort, another center of power for the Rajput Empire. This fort too contains many halls and belongings of the ancient empire. You can also enjoy a breath-taking view of the city beneath from this fort.
At a short location from Amber Fort is a lake called Jal Mahal, or Man Sagar Lake. This beautiful lake is the only lake in Jaipur. It contains a palace in its center called Jal Mahal Palace. You may hire a boat to reach the palace and explore its majestic beauty.
Art & Culture:
Jaipur is globally famous for its handicrafts, jewellery and clothes. You can find precious and semi-precious jewellery. In fact, there are many markets dedicated for jewellery and handcrafted items.
The city offers a variety of cultural activities and items of your choice. Puppets, handmade jewelry, costumes, leather items, blue-pottery and much more are accessible for your interest. A handful of handicraft emporiums, museums and other attractions let you understand the art and culture of this city from a different angle. Spend some time exploring the fine work of arts.
If you visit this city during the festival times, you will see a completely different atmosphere here. Clean roads, glittering buildings with decoration and cultural activities, Jaipur offers a lot to its visitors. But even during the non-festive days, you will find Jaipur a more cultural city than rest of the cities of India. This is what makes Jaipur different than others and this is what you must explore as a tourist.
Along with this, you may also visit some temples. Jaipur is a religious city with many beautiful temples.
After visiting these places, ride into the car to drive back to Delhi. Upon arrival to Delhi, our driver shall transfer to your hotel or Indira Gandhi International Airport where you may catch your flight back home.
